“It’s a shame that the little thing I’ve done has become such a big thing. I somehow thought that we’d gotten further than than this, but there’s still so much to do, especially for the youth. We need a big profile to say that ‘I’m gay and I can still play hockey’. But I don’t think there is one. That’s what I feel now. If I’d been gay I would have stopped playing hockey when I was a teenager. So when they say that there’s 3 to 4 gay players in every team… no, absolutely not. They quit when they were kids. Nobody dares or wants to keep playing.” (x)
